Gainesville is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Gainesville is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Florida's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The exceptional breakfast dishes and refreshing iced chai lattes tasted even better when contrasted with our experience from five years ago. Back then, we had to wait in a long counter line and fight for a table, but the new reservation system and full table service made the entire meal much better and completely stress-free. We thoroughly enjoyed diving into the vibrant flavor profile of the fresh avocado toast, which featured a perfectly seasoned mash spread generously across a slice of wonderfully crusty bread. The meal continued to impress with the comforting, savory warmth of the egg and cheddar sandwich, an expertly executed breakfast classic that felt both rich and satisfying. Adding a touch of elegance to the table, the whipped ricotta toast was incredibly creamy and luxurious, striking a beautiful balance between its velvety texture and subtle sweetness.

I have wanted to eat here for awhile after seeing all the excellent reviews so my husband and I visited this Saturday around 11am for brunch. We went during THE busiest time so we were lucky to find parking in the cramped but free parking lot. The hostess let us know there was a 35 min wait for indoor seating for 2. Outdoor seating was available, but we decided against it since it was a hot n sunny day in the 90s. We were ok with the wait and gave the hostess my name and phone number to get a text when the table was ready. While we waited, we walked to Serpentine plant shop across the parking lot and shopped a little. The text that our table was ready arrived 34 minutes so it was timed perfectly with the end of my shopping... we were seated soon after walking back into the restaurant. We had a corner table near the drink prep/coffee station so we had a front row seat to the preparing of many different teas and coffees while we decided what to order. A note about the table / seat size, we are skinny people and the seating fit us well but anyone somewhat wider would have trouble being comfortable. The high top tables might be a better option for those guests. The entire restaurant

Really nice and fresh home cooked style. Reminds me of many of the local diners around Berkeley and UW Madison - college crowd and mellow vibe. Spring Time Matcha is a must and the coffee is great. One note - the service is not fast so don’t come here in a hurry.

This was my first visit to Afternoon since the menu update, and unfortunately it was really disappointing. This used to be one of my favorite brunch spots to meet friends, so I was sad to see many of the dishes I loved are gone, and several of the remaining items have been changed. The Dutch baby arrived overly dark, almost burnt, and had a tough, chewy texture instead of the light texture I remembered. The crispy tofu was also very disappointing and lacked flavor and balance. The updated Afternoon Hash was another letdown and didn’t seem improved by the changes. With so many favorite dishes gone and the quality not what it used to be, I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon.

Went here and loved everything. Our waitress Sarah was so friendly and gave excellent recommendations. We had the brown sugar chai latte and the Dutch baby and the cauliflower burrito. All were wonderful. This restaurant and their staff are top notch. I wish we had this in our town
